Our Surf Getaways founders have travelled the world extensively during their surfing and coaching careers and have experienced first hand what echo friendly and positive surfing experiences look like. So when we started Surf Getaways we were determined to incorporate sustainability and social responsibility where possible.
Even though we are focused on creating an idilic surfing experience for our customers we are also passionate about how we contribute to the surfing ecosystem. That’s why we carefully select resorts that have a high level of engagement with the local indigenous populations where they are located and where the staff in these hotels are mostly local people and where management maintains a high level of integrity with how their employees are treated.
We are also focused on incorporating local cultural experiences at each one of our tours where possible so that there are tangible outcomes, that illustrate to us how the income we are providing these destinations is used. We are continually working to develop constructive outcomes for the local teams on the ground in every destination we visit. We focus on providing our expert knowledge on surf coaching to the local indigenous guides we work with, we provide support to local schools in several destinations and where practical we encourage our guests to purchase selected souvenirs from the villages located near our hotels.
We are also beginning to create programs with NGO’s in each location that are actively involved in protecting the environment in the locations we visit. Be it through donations to local organisations or working with more global entities we are committed to making a positive difference to wherever we go.
