Fashion Revolution Week – meet our partner: Salt Gypsy

Surfers’ responsibility to keep our oceans clean

As surfers, we care about enjoying clean and healthy oceans. We travel the globe in search of the clearest waters, and love the sight of a dolphin, whale or turtle popping up alongside us in the water.

To keep our oceans clean, and prevent further pollution of our waters, we, as surfers, have a responsibility to choose sustainably – and let our purchase behaviour be guided by the impact it has on the environment around us.

Fashion Revolution Week

Fashion is one of the biggest polluters on our planet – both how resources are sourced, as well as the waste from the production process, as well as after being discarded.

This week (22-29 April) is Fashion Revolution Week: “a week to celebrate all those who are tackling the challenge of fairer supply chains. Local designers and producers, international brands, the retailers breaking the mould by bringing ethically produced fashion to the public and the educators and organisations working hard to make traceability an everyday reality in the fashion industry.”

Meet our partner: Salt Gypsy

Our favourite local surf brand that we are proud to have partnered with that tackles this issue by choosing the sustainable path, is Salt Gypsy.

Salt Gypsy® is a women’s sustainable surfwear company that celebrates female surf athleticism, diversity and style in the lineup. Our product line is made from a 100% regenerated nylon yarn called ECONYL® which is a longer lasting, more durable recycled nylon fabric with responsible manufacturing here in Australia and biodegradable packaging.
